Longmeadow native Brynn Cartelli sat down with Zito & Kera this morning to dish about competing on The Voice.
Earlier this week, we shared a look at Cartelli's audition for the hit TV show.
Today, the 14 year-old joined us to talk about her experience so far and what it was like to meet Kelly Clarkson.
"Going into it, I've been obsessed with Kelly Clarkson for a really long time. I really wanted her to turn."
The teen admitted she didn't expect to get picked. "I didn't really expect to turn a chair at all. What happens, is what happens."
Luckily for Cartelli, coach Kelly Clarkson turned her chair and offered Cartelli a place on her team.
Cartelli's singing career started long before her turn on The Voice.
"I've been singing since I was a little baby. Apparently, I used to wake up singing instead of crying," Cartelli joked.
"I sang 'One And Only' by Adele," Cartelli shared about her 5th grade talent show. "The reaction was so unexpected. And I was like, 'Maybe I could just continue doing this.' So I started getting into vocal lessons, and actually, I picked up the guitar, then ukelele.... I've been writing songs for a few years, too. It kind of all came together."
On the other competitors, Cartelli revealed she's made a lot of friends. "They're such amazing people," Cartelli raved. "It doesn't feel like a competition, because everyone is really supportive of each other."
