Kera's Ultimate Turkey
- 23-25 Lb Turkey
- 2 Sticks of butter
- 5-6 sprigs of rosemary
- 5 garlic cloves
- 1 orange
- 2 apples
- 1 small bag of carrots, real ones not the baby ones
- 6 yellow onions
- Chicken broth
- 2 Packages powdered brown gravy
- 4 jars turkey gravy
Let's do this ! Make sure the turkey is TOTALLY thawed. If it's frozen at all it will mess up the cooking time. Remove all the treats that come inside the turkey and throw them away! Rinse the turkey good and pat it dry.
Now in a small bowl mix 1 1/2 sticks of softened butter with rosemary leaves and 1 clove of smashed garlic. Next separate the skin from the turkey, half your arm may end up in there then put the butter mixture in between the skin and meat. Make sure all the the bird is lathered up good. Also smear some on the outside skin of the turkey, legs too.
Next rough chop the apples, onions, carrots and garlic. Cut the orange into slices with the peel on. Now put all the oranges, apples, a few cloves of garlic and a few carrots and onions in the bird.
Put the remaining onions, carrots and garlic in the pan just surrounding the bird. Next pour about a cup of chicken stock into the cavity and about 3 cups in the pan. Rub the skin with a little butter and S & P. Cook 20 minutes per pound at 350. If the skin starts to get too dark cover with foil and remove the last 5-10 minutes so it's golden.
