Vineyard Man Held Without Bail In Weekend State Violence

The Martha's Vinyard man charged with stabbings in Braintree and Plymouth will undergo a mental health evaluation to determine competency and criminal responsibility.

The decision was made Tuesday after a psychologist testified that Jared Ravizza appeared to have delusions and symptoms of an active psychotic illness.

The 26-year-old Ravizza allegedly stabbed four girls at a movie theater in Braintree before heading to the Cape and stabbing two McDonald's employees in Plymouth. Ravizza will be evaluated at Bridgewater State Hospital.

The next hearing in Plymouth is set for June 17.

Authorities believe he may also be linked to a murder in Connecticut. He has not been charged in that case.
