Thunderbirds Come Up Short Against Bruins At Home

For the second game in a row the Springfield Thunderbirds dig themselves a first period hole. But unlike their dramatic third period comeback against Hartford the night before, this time Springfield falls short. losing to Providence 4-1 before nearly 68 hundred fans at the Mass Mutual Center.

After a first period 2-0 deficit, Springfield cut it to 2 -1 when Martin Frk scored his 28th goal of the year. But that is as close as Springfield got. Providence scored a powerplay goal in the third to make it 3-1. They also scored an empty net goal to cap off the scoring at 4-1.

It will be another short turnaround. The Thunderbirds go to Providence this afternoon for a return engagement against the Bruins.

Game time is 3pm and you can hear it live at 3 here on Newsradio 560 WHYN.
