Hofer Headed To St Louis As T-Birds Prepare For Big Weekend

The St Louis Blues are recalling goaltender Joel Hofer, on an emergency basis.

The 22 year old Hofer has played in 40 games for the Thunderbirds winning 22 of them playing to a goals against average of 2.50 and a save percentage of 920. It is unclear how long he will spend with the big club.

The Thunderbirds also announced that they have signed goaltender Garret Sparks to a professional tryout to fill the void.

Sparks is 29 and has played in 13 games this season with the ECHL's Orlando Solar Bears, posting a 7-3-3 record with a 3.48 goals-against average and an .884 save percentage.

It's another big weekend for the T-Birds.

They will be in Hartford tonight for a game against the Wolfpack.

Then at home Saturday night against the Providence Bruins.

Sunday they travel to Providence for an afternoon game against the B's.
