Northampton Coffee Shop Perks Up Beloved City Landmark

Two Western Mass natives have poured a whole latte love into an iconic Northampton landmark.

Familiars Coffee & Tea owners Dan McColgan and Isaac Weiner have announced the opening of their new cafe in the old 1932 Worcester Lunch Car Diner on Strong Avenue.

While Familiars Coffee & Tea will be opening its doors to the public on February 9, the project has been two years in the making.

"She needed a lot of TLC," shares Weiner , "piles of 100 year-old reclaimed oak paneling from a paper mill in Holyoke, and so much time."

"We think she’s looking better than ever, and is ready for business. Make no mistake, we are #notadiner, but we do hope to fill the same role in the community as a favorite place to hang out, socialize, drink coffee, and get simple and classic sammies."

The couple also intends to promote area artists with a rotating display of works that are available for purchase.
