A Texas man who broke a Guinness World Record for being the oldest skydiver three years ago at the age of 103, has officially regained the title after briefly losing it.
World War II veteran Al Blaschke's record was broken in 2020 by a Swedish woman who, at the time, was a few days older than him. But then last November, at the age of 106, he took another tandem dive – this time with Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
Blaschke was 106 years and 327 days old when he took the 9000-foot plunge between Austin and San Antonio. Guinness recently certified the jump and officially awarded him the record.
Blaschke, who turned 107 in January, says, "If you think you can’t, you’re just underestimating yourself. You just need to make the decision to try.”
