A mama goose has made life interesting for Kelly Boelens, after the goose laid five eggs on a bench on her front porch.
In doing some research, Kelly learned that the eggs are federally protected and that it's illegal to move the nest or eggs. So, Kelly just watched to see how the adventure would unfold.
A problem arose early on, as the upstairs neighbor has a dog, which made the goose very nervous. Kelly helped out by putting up a temporary cover to keep the goose and her eggs out of view. She has also been able to provide the goose with food, including frozen peas.
For now, the mama goose is comfortable being cared for in this special way by her new human friends who are treating her like family.
And everyone involved is excited for the babies to arrive.
