Demi Lovato made an appearance during FOX presents the iHeartRadio Living Room Concert for America to share an uplifting message during the current global pandemic surrounding coronavirus COVID-19, and also perform some of her song "Skyscraper."
Lovato explained, "When tragedy knocks our neighbors down, we extend our hands to help them up. When sorrow strikes any one of us, we do our best to power through. We can only use the love we have to ease the pain. We are strong, we are decent, we will rise and stand tall. And nothing, absolutely nothing can tear us down."
Then, Demi sat at her piano to perform a stripped back version of her Unbroken song "Skyscraper." As she sang the song, current photos of eerily empty New York City streets, surrounded by its own many skyscrapers, were displayed — and it will give you chills. As New Yorkers do what they can to stay home to prevent the spread of the virus, normally bustling streets and sidewalks are now sparse and near-deserted.
Over the last few weeks, Demi has been vocal in supporting social media initiatives to help people stay safe, one being the #stayathomechallenge. On Instagram, the singer shared a photo of who she stays home for — her neighbors, her parents and her health. She wrote along with the post, "There's a lot of things going on in our world right now, but if there’s one thing that matters it's spreading love. #IStayHomeFor my parents, my neighbors and my health."
Lovato most recently participated in the #DoYourPartChallenge, an initiative meant to help communities and those in need. She wrote, "I will be sending meals to families in need to support them during this challenging time. Comment below to show me how you're helping in your local communities!"
You can support two of many charitable organizations that are helping victims and first responders during this difficult time —Feeding America and First Responders Children's Foundation. Every dollar raised from the COVID-19 response fund for Feeding America will be used to get food and funds to local food banks across the US and FOX Entertainment is matching the first $100,000 donated from supporters. Money raised for First Responders Children's Foundation will help support those first responder families who are enduring financial hardship due to the coronavirus outbreak.
