Agawam is taking legal action after the high school softball team was denied an appeal to play in the western Massachusetts Tournament championship.
Mayor Christopher Johnson directed the town's law department to seek emergency relief in Hampden County Superior Court.
The filing comes after Agawam beat Westfield 6-to-4 in Wednesday's semifinal matchup.
East Longmeadow, the number one seed, will play in the championship game.
