Authorities are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in West Springfield.
Prosecutors say West Springfield Police responded Wednesday night to George Street for a reported domestic disturbance.
During the incident, officers encountered a man armed with multiple kitchen knives.
According to Hampden County DA Anthony Gulluni, "Due to circumstances that remain under investigation, an officer discharged his service weapon, striking the individual. Officers immediately rendered medical aid, and the man was transported to Baystate Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased."
A preliminary investigation indicates that the man became combative with officers, who used a Taser, but it wasn't effective.
