Holyoke police unions are calling for the resignation of a city councilor after releasing footage of the traffic stop that led to his arrest on suspicion of intoxicated driving.
The video of the incident last month allegedly shows City Councilor Israel Rivera using racial slurs and threatening the Holyoke Police Department's budget.
The Holyoke Supervisors and Patrolmen's Unions said Rivera should step down as his behavior "contradicts the expected standards for city leaders."
Rivera is scheduled to make his next court appearance in the case next week.
