Kourtney Kardashian Speaks Out Against 'Unsettling' Food At Kids' School

Today - Season 68

Kourtney Kardashian is opening up about how she fought against 'unsettling' food options at her children's elementary school. In a new post on her lifestyle site Poosh, the 40-year-old reality star revealed she "used her voice" to lobby for healthier lunches and snacks at Mason, Penelope and Reign's school. Despite having the resources to "donate a lot of money" or "start a foundation," Kourtney believes you don't need to do those those things to make a difference.

"I’ve found that simply using my voice to stand up for small changes that add up to big impacts is so effective at not only creating change, but setting an example for my children,” Kourtney wrote in her post. “I may not be the loudest or the most aggressive, but I’ve never been one to stand by and watch something I disagree with unfold.”

Kourtney was dismayed to learn her kids' school was serving processed foods and didn't have healthy, fresh and organic options for the students. She decided to speak out about the issue. “As moms, it’s in our power to raise some awareness and rally for healthier options,” she explained. “I wasn’t satisfied with the food being served at my kids’ school, so I made sure that the principal knew my concerns and I’ve continued to offer my two cents on everything from the type of milk they serve to their use of single-use plastic.”

Kourtney isn't worried about coming across as an "annoying" parent to the school's administration, either. She knows she's "doing it for my children and their futures." In her post, Kourtney encourages her followers to do the same. “It may seem like change is out of your reach, but truly it’s within all of our grasp,” she wrote. “I practice using my voice in my community in an effort to make improvements in our environment and health, and I truly feel like bringing my kids into the mission is the legacy I can leave behind.”
