Yep, Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn actually are husband and wife!
Sheeran confirmed he and his longtime sweetheart tied the knot during Friday's (July 12) appearance on Charlamagne The God's YouTube channel while celebrating the release of his latest album, No.6 Collaborations Project. The reveal came after Charlamagne questioned the English singer about the lyrics of his song "Remember the Name," on which Sheeran sings: “Watch how the lyrics in the songs might get twisted/ My wife wears red, but looks better without the lipstick.”
“It was actually before me and Cherry got married and I knew that we’d be married by the point that the song came out,” Sheeran answered casually. “[I thought] Someone’s gonna hear that and be like, ‘Oh, they’re married!’ I didn’t know how that would be construed, but obviously it’s already come out.”
Indeed, it has.
Back in February, The Sun indicated the singer and his fiancee had exchanged their "I dos" in a secret wedding at their home in Suffolk, England, supposedly in December 2018. Only 40 guests were invited to the well-kept ceremony, which a source told the outlet at the time happened "a few days before Christmas."
“It was very quiet – just Ed’s oldest school pals, limited family and the priest," the insider said of the "tiny winter wedding," which "Cherry just wanted to get it out of the way without any problems or intrusions.”
Even so, the lovebirds, who announced their engagement in January 2018, were said to have wed as early as last summer after Sheeran gestured to a silver ring on his left hand in an Access interview the following month.
