Maren Morris Says 'Not Many Country Artists Speak Up' About Politics

Maren Morris is baring it all in a new (safe for work) interview with Playboy — and I'm not talking about taking off her clothes. Instead, the "GIRL" singer was super candid in the interview; which dropped today (June 18). Morris shared the interview via her Twitter.

No topic was off limits for the 29-year-old and she spoke about everything from her albums, feminism, and bending music genres. She talked openly about always staying true to her opinion, calling out haters, and making sure she shares her thoughts.

"Every time I’ve spoken up or clapped back at some troll, it has been very much me. I wouldn’t go back on any of it, because they deserved it," she said. "Body shamers? They’re asking for it. I would never regret calling them out."

She also wasn't shy to say that she thinks not many artists in country music are speaking out about politics the way she regularly does. "As a tax-paying citizen, I should be allowed to speak up when I’m passionate about something. It’s always to increase awareness. It’s to let my fans know where I stand," she explained. "I would like people to know what I believe in. This is where I stand, this is what I want, this is the world I want my kids to live in. That’s why I speak up when I do. It definitely ruffles feathers. Not many country artists speak up." She also revealed she's lost countless followers for speaking her mind but it's not going to keep her from making her points.

While it may "ruffle feathers" it's amazing to see Morris stand her ground and be true to herself!
