Adriana Lima has hung up her angel wings.
Thursday (November 8) night's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show marked the 37-year-old supermodel's last show, and her 18th VS catwalk, with the lingerie brand that launched her career 20 years ago.
Adriana hinted at her retirement on Instagram, ahead of Thursday's show, captioning a montage of her greatest Victoria's Secret moments: "Dear Victoria, Thank you for showing me the world, sharing your secrets, and most importantly not just giving me wings but teaching me to fly. ❤️ to the best fans in the 🌎! Love, Adriana 💖."
While the show doesn't air until next month, fan photos and video showed that Adriana was given the honor of closing out this year's show. For her last strut down the VS catwalk, Adriana wore a beautiful feathered look. The weight of her final moments on the runway seemed to get to the 20-year vet who broke down into tears during her end-of-runway pose.
So, what's next for the Brazilian model? Well, she's going to continue to empower women, of course. "I’m looking forward to[ supporting] women and being connected to different projects which support women around the world," she told People.
Last year, Adriana's VS bestie and former angel Alessandra Ambrosio announced her retirement after nearly two decades with the brand. "Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have been working for this amazing brand that inspires me and women all over the world," she wrote on Instagram. "In my wildest dreams I would have never imagined doing 17 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows. Thank you Ed, and all my Victoria’s Secret family for making these memories unforgettable. Last night was so emotional to say goodbye to my #angel sisters but we put on the biggest and best show ever. I could not have done this without all the love and support from my fans. It gives me great pride to be part the Victoria’s Secret movement! I will always be cheering for you! Love you forever ❤️."
