Lady Gaga Will Testify in Dr. Luke's Defamation Case Against Kesha

Despite her initial attempt to avoid a subpoena, Lady Gaga will reportedly take the stand to testify in Dr. Luke's ongoing defamation case against Kesha after all.

On Tuesday (August 15), Page Six reported that Mother Monster "will appear for a deposition pursuant to [Luke’s] subpoena in this action, during the month of September" based on a deal signed between lawyers for Gaga and reps for Luke and Kesha. During her appearance, she will "produce un-redacted copies of certain of the documents that were previously produced in redacted form."

"Lady Gaga has always been prepared to testify so long as reasonable limitations were established. That has now been accomplished," her lawyer Orin Snyder said.

After previously sending her support to Kesha when the star came forward and shared the explosive details around her abusive relationship with her longtime collaborator, Gaga hit back at his initial attempt to get her to appear face-to-face for a deposition. It's all surrounding a text message conversation between the pop stars, where Kesha reportedly asked Gaga to join her on a "smear campaign against [Dr. Luke]."

Unsurprisingly, Team Gaga initially didn't react well to his attempt at getting her to "manipulate the truth and draw press" to the highly-publicized case, as per a statement. "As Lady Gaga’s legal team will present to the court, she has provided all of the relevant information in her possession and is at most an ancillary witness in this process," the statement read. "Dr. Luke's team is attempting to manipulate the truth and draw press attention to their case by exaggerating Lady Gaga's role and falsely accusing her of dodging reasonable requests."
